How to Get Your Blog Off the Ground

Well you've started off your blog but you don't know what to do to get those extra pageviews. Well although the days of the link farms is over the days of genuine links are just beginning. Genuine links, in my opinion are the best way to improve your SEO (Search Engine Optimization). The best way to become approachable to possible linking blogs is to enter your blog into a blog directory or topical guides and of course have a "links" page and a "contact us" page on your blog. Enter your blog into as many of these blog directories and topical guides as you can and possible linking bloggers will come pouring in, the more links the more views. You should also find bloggers and ask them for links. Here are some guidelines on what to do when you are asking for a link on someones blog. When asking for a link you should always:

• Always have a link already put on your own blog before you ask for a link in return and give the location of the link.

• Always give them the exact link text to use, even going so far as to put it in HTML so they can just cut/paste it onto their page.

• Make sure they actually have a links page!

• Give them as much information as needed in order to make it easy for them to link to you. 

Another good way to get the pageviews coming in is to create social network pages/accounts for your blog. This can be very useful if you can give your friends or followers samples of posts on your site and post links to your blog. The two main social networks I would recommend having a page or account with are Facebook and Twitter as these are the main social networks.


Last but not least another great way to increase pageviews is to have some of your readers guest blog, this instantly increases the loyalty of your readers and your blog begins to feel like a community. Luckily if your blog becomes a community then suddenly all that guest bloggers friends want to join this community and voila you have your brand new loyal readers.
