The first step to making a succesful money making blog is to create a blog. Now this can be done in multiple ways but the most common blogging software used is Blogger and Wordpress. For For beginner bloggers I would recommend Blogger because it is extremely easy to set up your blog and start writing. But there is a downside, you don't actually own the content or the site because it's hosted on Blogger's domain. So if Blogger ever shut down, then yes, you will lose all your hard work. Although I highly doubt Blogger will shut down it could still happen. Although WordPress takes slightly longer to set up it does have more free plug-ins you can use to make your blog much more interactive, functional and fun. If you already run a blog or would like to jump in at the deep end then be my guest and use WordPress.
Now the part we've all been waiting for, how can you make your daily hobby into money. First of all you need to put advertisements on your blog. There are hundreds of advertising companies out there but I would strongly recommend Google Adsense (the ads that say Google ads beside them). There are other Advertisement companies but Adsense is the safest and the most used by far. Where you put your advertisements is almost as important as having them on some blogs, some good places to put ads are: Under your most recent posts and under every third post under that, under your search box and on either side of your posts area. Also make sure that the ads Google are putting up are relevant to your blogs topic. Google Adsense pays up to 15c per click but if no one's clicking than your not making any money are you. You can also use Adsense for feeds on your blog. Adsense for feeds places relevant ads into your feed's items.
Another good way to make money with your blog is to become an affiliate, meaning you promote a websites product (generally relevant to your blogs topic) and you get a cut on the profits generally 5%-15%. Most eCommerce websites have a link at the bottom of their site for affiliates and nearly all eCommerce websites have an affiliates program, if they don't you can probably email them and they will sort something out for you. If you are a beginner affiliate I would strongly recommend finding the products on amazon and using Amazon associates. If you are an Amazon.com Associate (Amazon's free affiliate marketing program), you can earn up to 15% in referrals advertising Amazon products.
